We are using OpenAI to power Story Enhancer; a feature designed to support fundraisers to tell impactful stories. The feature can be found within the Story Editor, the tool used for creating your Fundraising Page.

Story Enhancer allows you to analyse the tone of your story (for example, casual or formal), as well as rewrite your story based on how you would like it to sound (for example, 1. motivational, 2. informative, 3. casual)

Story Enhancer is optional for you to use and there are two steps. Step 1 allows you to analyse the tone of your story (for example, you will be told if it sounds casual, formal, motivational, informative, etc). Step 2 allows you to choose how you would like your story to sound and it is rewritten for you.  You then have the option to use this new story, your previous story or a combination.

Is Story Enhancer available for everyone?  

Yes, except for those who are fundraising in memory of someone. 

What is OpenAI?

How does OpenAI work?

What services does OpenAI provide? 

OpenAI offers a range of services; including language translation, content creation, chatbots, question-answering systems, sentiment analysis, and more. These services are powered by state-of-the-art language models.

How does OpenAI handle data privacy and security? 

OpenAI takes data privacy and security seriously. They retain customer data for a limited time and follow industry-standard security practices to safeguard user data.

The OpenAI service is down, what can I do? 

Whilst OpenAI aims to provide a reliable service, occasional downtime may occur. If this is the case, you can still create your story and edit it later, once your page is live.

What personal information does OpenAI use?  

To ensure that your fundraising story is relevant and unique, we use information that you have already told us, for example:

• Your name (provided when you create an account)
• The charity or campaign you’re fundraising for
• Any activity or event information you have given us
• How much you’ve told us you’d like to raise

This information is used to create impactful stories which help you to achieve your fundraising goals. 

What if I don’t want to use the new story enhancer functionality?

We always want our fundraisers to feel in control, so the feature is completely optional. If you don’t want to use it, you can simply ignore the option.

Can I change my story once I've used the story enhancer?  

Yes, absolutely! You can edit your story anytime during the process of creating your page, or once your page is live. 

How do I report a problem?

We’re sorry to hear that you’ve experienced an issue whilst using our story enhancer. This is a new feature which we are continuously trying to improve. To report a problem, please contact us via our live chat, or via our contact form.

How accurate is the AI?

We want to ensure that stories are not only impactful, but accurate too. OpenAI allows us to access all public information on the internet, improving accuracy and depth of knowledge. In addition to this, we have designed the story enhancer to not only tell an accurate story, but a great one too.

As with any new technology, we always recommend fact checking content generated by AI.  

Will the AI capture any other data about me?

OpenAI will only have access to the personal information outlined above. What personal information does the OpenAI use? Any other data is stored securely by JustGiving. You can read our Privacy Policy for more information.

Will any data I provide be fed into the OpenAI service for it to learn from?

No. Any data provided by yourself will not be passed onto OpenAI to learn from. 

Can the service generate an image for me?

We don’t currently offer AI image generation on our platform.  

What do I do if I spot an inaccuracy in the story?

If you spot an inaccuracy in the content created then don’t worry, you’ll still be able to edit your story before and after creating your page. If you’d like to report a problem (for example, false information or offensive language) please contact us via our live chat, or via our contact form.
